We opened Flatiron Wines & Spirits in New York City in 2012, with the goal of combining the friendly, personal service of the best boutiques and neighborhood shops, with the excellent prices and wide selection of the very best large stores.

Wine Therapy opened in 2005, focusing on Organic & Biodynamic & natural wines. 4. Chambers Street Wines
Chambers Street Wines opened in June 2001, the product of David Lillie's and Jamie Wolff's idea that New York might support a shop that indulged their love for naturally made wines from artisanal small producers. There are very, very few brand names here.
We choose wines that express their origins, the talent and commitment of the growers and winemakers, and the inherent quality of the vintage. Every wine we stock is tasted, re-tasted, debated.... this is a shop where everyone who works here actually loves wine, drinks wine with food, and knows at least a little bit about what we're selling.
Particular strengths here are the Loire Valley, Burgundy, and the Rhone, Piedmont, Austria, and Germany; we are always working to improve our selection, and your suggestions—especially for the New World—are appreciated.
5. Astor Wines & Spirits
Astor Wines & Spirits has been a Greenwich Village fixture since 1946. When we decided to move to bigger digs recently, we thought it was only fitting that we’d end up in a New York City Landmark, the De Vinne Press Building.
A charming and formidable structure, it has stood on the corner of Fourth and Lafayette Streets in Manhattan since 1885. Its façade has been carefully maintained, leaving its charming period-specific features intact.
We aren’t just interested in preserving great wines; we want to keep the rich history of our neighborhood alive as well, so the building is a perfect home for our new space.
Whether you’re a longtime Village denizen or just a passer-by, you’ll appreciate the 50% larger sales floor and incredible new amenities at our new location, which is just a two-minute walk south of our old one.
History
Since 1971, Andy Fisher has been President of Astor Wine & Spirits. When he took over as President, it was a small store on Astor Place, which he expanded nine years later. After moving the iconic store to the DeVinne Press building in 2006, Fisher also opened Astor Center, an educational hub housed directly above the retail space. Astor Center offers classes and events and focuses on the exchange of ideas in contemporary food and wine.

Manhattan Wine Company was founded in 2006 after our co-owner Matt Tornabene recognized a lack of customer-first, full-service storage providers. So, he partnered with like-minded angel investor James Polsky to fill the void. Since then, we've continued to invest in our temperature-controlled storage facility, expanded our selection of wine services, and grown our staff of dedicated wine professionals.
